What's new at AppZung - April 2025 edition

AppZung's April updates bring enhanced security with 2FA and SSO, improved privacy controls for React Native, better developer experience and UX enhancements.

Here are the notable improvements to the AppZung platform during the past month!

If you missed our March updates (understandable, as I published that one a bit late), click here to catch up on the March edition.

Security

CodePush is a sensitive service. We’re committed to providing you with all the tools necessary to make your installation as secure as possible.

2FA

Every user can now enable 2FA (time-based one-time password) in their personal settings, and we strongly recommend doing so.

For customers on the Production plan or above, you can now require organization members to have 2FA enabled through your organization settings. This feature is recommended and may be required for your ISO 27001 / SOC 2 compliance (unless you’re using SSO, covered below).

SSO

We’re fond of three-letter acronyms this month :)

If your company prioritizes security, you likely require vendor logins through an identity provider like Okta or Google Identity Platform. This approach enables your administrators to easily manage access rights across all vendor platforms from a central location. AppZung now fully supports SSO (both SAML and OIDC protocols).

This feature is available on the Production plan or above.

And more

  • Sensitive actions now require recent authentication for added protection.
  • Organization-wide API keys are now available through the CLI (though project-specific API keys remain the recommended approach).

Privacy

React Native module

Microsoft’s original CodePush module did not provide app developers with tools to respect user privacy or comply with regulations.

Our React Native module addresses this gap by allowing you to disable telemetry or completely suspend the SDK until user consent is obtained. As a developer, you have control over how to implement GDPR compliance in your application. Here is the related documentation.

Billing

Pricing update

To better align with Enterprise plans, the Production plan now includes 500k MAU and a tiered usage pricing. Please reach out if you want to migrate to this new plan.

For higher MAU counts (>10M), please continue contacting us for an Enterprise plan.

See usage history

Thanks to user feedback, you can see your usage history with the command appzung billing active-users-history. This will be available in the web interface later.

Developer Experience

React Native module

  • You can now easily send CodePush logs to Sentry or Firebase Crashlytics using the new setLogger method.

CLI

  • You may now use --private-key flag instead of --private-key-path to provide the private key content directly. This also handles a path if you give a path.

UX

  • Search through your releases with ease
  • Promote releases directly from the web console

Final words

Perhaps the most significant news this month relates to Trump’s tariffs policy. We’re exploring the possibility of a US-specific edition of AppZung. If you’re a potential US customer interested in this option, please reach out to hello@appzung.com. It’s worth noting that current tariff policies don’t affect SaaS solutions, so our EU-hosted infrastructure remains available to all customers.
